When the water has frozen, the back stream in the northern Gäddviksströmmen is usually the only place to swim. It can vary from year to year how long it is open. In the winter of 2019-2020, we were able to keep it open until the end of January with a lot of effort. The winter of 2020-2021 is fairly cold throughout the country and then Vattenfall has released more water, which has meant that Gäddviksströmmen is kept open largely by itself. Sometimes the backflow can be quite strong. Watch the movie Endless Pool Feeling next door as an example of this. With the investment Vinterbad in Luleå, the municipality has also set out to plow the road to the stream. The year before, it was deep snow walking or skiing that applied to get there.
